Many of the city’s main attractions, including the Zwinger Palace, Semper Opera House, and the Frauenkirche, are within walking distance of the conference venue.
Public Transport
Dresden has an excellent public transport system operated by DVB (Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe), with trams, buses, and suburban trains (S-Bahn) connecting all parts of the city.
- Trams are the easiest way to move around the city center.
- S-Bahn trains connect Dresden with the surrounding region, including Meißen, Pirna, and the Elbe Valley.
- Tickets are valid across all modes of transport and can be bought at ticket machines, via the DVB app, or directly from some trams and buses.
A single ticket within the city costs just a few euros, while day passes are great value if you plan to explore more. The tram and bus network map is available in https://www.dvb.de/en-gb/route-network/network-maps
Walking & Cycling
Dresden’s historic old town is compact and very pedestrian-friendly. For a different perspective, bicycles can be rented easily, and cycling along the Elbe River paths is a highlight.
Car Rental
If you’d like maximum flexibility, renting a car is also a great option. Several international car rental agencies are available at Dresden Airport, the main train stations, and in the city center. With a car, you can easily explore the Saxon Wine Route, visit Saxon Switzerland National Park, or take day trips to Leipzig or Prague. Parking is available at the hotel and throughout the city (fees may apply).
